Ducks Unlimited to hold annual banquet Feb. 7

Community News

On Feb. 7 at 7 o’clock, the Somerset Chapter of Ducks Unlimited will be hosting its annual Ducks Unlimited Banquet.

The banquet will be held at The Center for Rural Development and its format will be virtually the same as it’s been in past years. You don’t mess with success and the annual DU banquet has served fine meals and dispersed thousands of dollars worth of merchandise to hundreds of participants for many years.

Ticket prices are $40 for singles, $60 for couples. Tickets may be obtained by calling Dr. Bruce Jasper at 606-679-4696. You can also call Rick Gonzales at 679-6556.

If you happen to know any member of the local DU chapter executive committee, just ask them. He’ll get tickets for you.

Some of the things that have made the annual DU feast such a perennial hit will continue to be featured and even improved.

There will be a prodigious amount of merchandise in a virtually infinite variety; you’re certain to see something that’ll make you say “I’ve gotta have that!” Local merchants and national producers and wholesalers have historically been generous in their support of Ducks Unlimited Banquet and donated thousands of dollars worth of merchandise and services.

Ducks Unlimited is not limited to the current and future well-being of just one species of wildlife. Hundreds of species benefit from DU’s efforts to preserve existing areas that serve as nesting and breeding grounds to a myriad of species.

Habitat restoration is an ongoing succession of successes. In this time of natural awareness and ongoing fights against conditions that are detrimental to wildlife health in helping Ducks Unlimited in achieving their goals, they also serve to make the whole world better for ourselves and our descendants.

In order to carry on this quest, events like Somerset Ducks Unlimited banquets are being arranged across America and even internationally. You are cordially invited to come down to The Center to enjoy some good food, meet and interact with your friends and take home some terrific merchandise from the drawings and raffles.

There will be multiple events, contests and activities to engage all age groups.

So join Ducks Unlimited at The Center on Feb. 7 at 7 p.m., join us in some terrific times, all the while making a meaningful contribution to conservation and helping make the world better for us all.
