A Wayne County man was arrested following a high-speed chase in southern Pulaski County last week.

Edward L. Bertram, 64, of Rt. 1, Monticello, was charged Thursday with DUI, his third offense, reckless, operating on a suspended license, and second-degree fleeing and evading police.

According to the Burnside Police Department, officer Mike Hill received a call regarding a vehicle driving in an erratic manner on Ky. 90 coming toward Burnside. Hill observed the vehicle in question at the intersection of U.S. 27 and Ky. 90, and attempted to catch up with it as Bertram’s vehicle headed northbound on Ky. 1247.

Officer Hill caught up to the vehicle and attempted to stop it, but to no avail, as the suspect’s vehicle continued recklessly, nearly striking another vehicle head-on and driving in and out of the ditches.

Officers finally got the vehicle stopped at Ky. 914 and arrested the driver.

Bertram was lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center.
