Ky. 39 accident victim still critical

An elderly Somerset woman was still listed in critical condition yesterday, a day after being struck by a car.

A University of Kentucky Medical Center spokesperson said Christine M. Reed, 86, Ky. 39, Somerset, was in critical condition Wednesday afternoon.

Reed was hit by a car while crossing the street in front of her home to go to her mailbox, according to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department.

According to the sheriff’s department, Reed was crossing the highway at approximately 8:15 a.m. when she stepped into the path of a 2003 Mazda operated by Connie Gale Hart, 42, Silver Star Road, Somerset.

Reed was treated at the scene of the accident by Somerset Fire/EMS and then was flown to the University of Kentucky Medical Center by a LifeNet helicopter.
