Authorities are searching for a Somerset man who assaulted a police detective in Dayton, Ohio.
WHIO of Dayton reports that Craig Hill, 51, allegedly knocked down Det. Jamie Bullens, who had approached him as he was attempting to sell stolen scrap metal at A and B Iron and Metal on Washington Street in Dayton.
Hill fled from the scene, but Bullens was able to describe his truck as a 1998 green Ford F-150 pickup with an Ohio license plate that read CSB 9708.
Officers followed Hill until they lost sight of him at the University of Dayton campus.
Det. Bullens had just returned to active duty after being injured when he was hit by a car during a separate scrap metal investigation in June, the Dayton television station reported.
Hill is also wanted on a nationwide warrant out of Louisville for receiving stolen property and on multiple warrants in Montgomery County, Ohio. Police believe that’s likely why he fled.
Hill has lived in Dayton and Kettering, Ohio, but he was believed to have been headed to Somerset.
Anyone with information about Hill’s whereabouts should call Dayton police at 937-333-2677 (333-COPS).
