Five people, including three children, were injured late Tuesday night in a one-vehicle car accident north of Somerset.
Authorities and emergency personnel responded to a report of an accident approximately seven miles north of Somerset on East Ky. 635 in the Science Hill area at 10:08 p.m. Tuesday.
According to information provided by the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department, the accident occurred when Jason Wilson, 35, of Oak Hill Circle, Parkers Lake, Ky., was operating a 2005 Chrysler eastbound on Ky. 635 when he reportedly lost control of the vehicle and left the roadway, striking a culvert and an earth embankment. The vehicle came to a stop on its top in the middle of Ky. 635.
Wilson and two passengers in his vehicle, Jennifer Wilson, 13, and Josephine Wilson, 6, both of Cole’s Trail, Somerset, were treated at the scene and transported to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital by Somerset-Pulaski County EMS.
LCRH Spokesperson Susan Ramsey Wilson said all three were treated in the emergency department but not admitted.
Two other passengers in the vehicle, Jason Wilson Jr., 12, and Melanie Manyguns, 32, were treated at the scene by EMS and airlifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center by Air Methods and Air Evac from Science Hill School.
A UK Medical Center spokesperson said Wilson Jr. had been discharged from the hospital. Manyguns was listed in fair condition as of Wednesday afternoon.
Emergency personnel remained on the scene of the accident well past 11 p.m. Tuesday.
Sheriff’s deputies were assisted on the scene by the Science Hill Fire Department and by Dabney Fire Department.
