A major leak in the western part of the county has resulted in an outage for hundreds of water customers.
Between 600 and 700 people, all customers of the Western Pulaski Water District, were left without water sometime overnight Wednesday. That outage resulted from a significant water leak on Ferry Road.
Don Calder, with the water district, said crews had been out working on alleviating the problem since about 4 a.m. Thursday. And he said that some of the customers without water would have their service back by Thursday afternoon.
“It’s a mess,” he said about the leakage.
Others would see their water be restored by sometime Thursday night, he said.
“We’re doing the best we can,” he said. “We’ve got everybody out there.”
The Commonwealth Journal and Pulaski County Judge-executive Barty Bullock’s office received several calls about the outage on Thursday. Calder said every phone in the water district office remained in use while crews worked to reestablish water service to the customers.
The Western Pulaski Water District is the ninth largest water district in the state, with around 10,000 customers.
