Somerset Energy and Refinery Plant Manager Kris Gibson points out where crude oil delivered to the refinery is heated to hundreds of degrees to separate the liquid into different types of fuel — including gasoline, diesel and kerosene. The refinery has been upgraded to adhere to strict environmental and market standards and it is now operational after it was closed down several years ago amid a slew of financial woes.
