Heavy equipment started demolition of the existing historic downtown Somerset Fountain Square yesterday to make way for a $1 million beautification project. Among the first things done was putting the statue of John Sherman Cooper in storage until relocated, facing south instead of west. Hil-Don Inc., Burkesville, the general contractor has 150 days to complete the project.
