The current low level of Lake Cumberland has bared signs of Old Burnside. The photograph, looking east from the causeway at General Burnside Island State Park, shows remains of Old U.S. 27 along which Burnside thrived. The city moved from here to its present location ahead of the impoundment of Lake Cumberland.
