Ell Daton Hogston and Phyllis Fern Hogston will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, that God has blessed them with, on August 29, 2009.

They are the parents of one son, Brian Dale, who resides in Lexington.

They were married August 29, 1959, at Phyllis’ home in Feds Creek, Ky., with Phyllis’ father, Kenis Hunt, Church of Christ minister, in a small family wedding.

Ell and Phyllis met in Ypsilanti, Mich., where they both lived and worked at the time.

They planned a church wedding in Ypsilanti but Phyllis’ dad was too ill to travel there. It was her heart’s desire that her dad marry her and her dear mother, Florance (Rowe) Hunt, be present.

So, needless to say, the bride-to-be and groom came to Kentucky.

A private celebration will be held at their home with family and friends. A second honeymoon will follow.

They wish to thank God for their blessings through the years with their son, Brian Dale, and all their friends and family for their support and love.

Leonard Wilson Sears was born on February 1, 1915.
Elva Bales Sears came along on May 4, 1918.
Leonard states: “It was strange that it took so long for people to get together in those times. We lived just 6 miles apart but never knew each other for several years. I met Elva on a Sunday night at Fellowship Methodist Church where we still belong and attend when we are able.”
